I've wanted to start my own photography business for a long time, now feels the right time get going!

A quick blog post from me .... about me
I'm not one that really enjoys talking about myself too much, I don't think I have EVER blogged about my life (outside of Facebook and Instagram at least), and I didn’t think I ever would to be honest... but for this, my passion, I thought I would share a little more information about who I am.
I think it's important to have a good connection with whoever I’m photographing, and given I'm asking you to show me your personalities in front of the lens, it's only fair you understand a little more about me.
I've had a bit of journey over the last ten years or so, and throughout that journey photography and moving image is where I've always felt I belonged, but I have struggled throughout to really commit myself or land on exactly where and how.
I started as a media graduate in London working for a Production Studio specialising in Documentary programming, with goals to become a video editor for the rest of my days.... and then, as cliché as it might sound, I met my to-become Husband which pretty much changed everything - for the better of Corse 😆.
An exciting opportunity for my Husband to work overseas presented itself, and we both made the decision to go for it and moved to Toronto, Canada for four years total. I landed a role working for a Media Agency where I specialised in developing Branded Content for some big brands and loved it. I moved away from the production side of things slightly and into strategy and campaign management. Not what I expected, but it was a key moment of growth in my professional experience and I'm so glad that’s where my path took me.

The Canadian lifestyle is something special, not only did it hold some of the most spectacular landscapes I ever explored (as above), but we made lifelong friends to what felt like our 2nd home, so I was very sad to leave... but new experiences awaited!
Which turned out to be a move to Hong Kong for year. An exciting new job for my Husband threw us into a completely different pace and culture. After a slight shock to the senses, it was a such a fun place to be. More intense, more challenging, more eating and drinking! I landed a brief role with Cartoon Network, developing ideas and solutions for their digital platforms... again, not what i expected at all... but a great learning experience.

It was time come home back to the UK. Nottingham was the place we decided to buy our first house together and just like that I was back on the job hunt. I started working for a media company, this time in editorial and continue to do so.
Over the last 4 years being here, we found our German Shepherd Dog to join the family, welcomed our amazing daughter, and spent all our money on improving our home!

It's only now after all these years of wanting to start something for myself, that I'm actually doing something about it! With the encouragement of my friends, family and mostly my husband... i'm going give them the same belief as they have shown me and work for what I really want. Writing this now and reflecting on the path leading me here, I can't help but believe that in life, everything happens for a reason, and there will be a reason that now is the right time for me to finally take this new venture on.
I think if you asked anyone who knows me well, they would describe me as the one super chilled, laid back guy, and it's very true. Now I know being laid back can have its draw backs as my Husband would confirm... but when it comes to a photographer, I'm pretty confident it's exactly what you will want to help everyone on the day to feel relaxed and at ease. I totally appreciate (and relate) that having your pictures taken is not everyone's idea of fun, but if i don't have you laughing and enjoying yourself within the first 10 minutes, then that's on me!
And finally, why Iris & George? Its simply my daughters middle name, combined with mine :)
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have got to know me a little more. If you don't please give me follow on instagram, it means so much to have all you lovely people support me as I go!
